Rita Pavone is probably the world's smallest singer ( height 5 feet, weight 80 pounds ). But she certainly one  Italy's most powerful and successful vocalist. She was born on 23 August 1945 in Turin, Italy, the daughter of a body worker at the Fiat plant. Her father entered her for a competion organized by RCA on 1962. As she was the winner she was automatically  signed by the label.  " La Partita di Pallone " was her first recording and it immediately entered the charts, soon selling over a quarter of a million, and subsequentely an estimated million globally. Her second disc " Come Te Non C'è Nessuno " sold half a million, and was top italian disc of 1963. This was followed by " Cuore " backed with  " Il Ballo del Mattone ", another tremendous hit  ( see below ).

Pratically all Rita's discs became chart toppers, and the collettive disc to the end of 1970 were estimated at over 10 millions.

Her extraordinary talent resulted in success in many countries including Spain,Germany,Brazil,Japan, Argentina and Holland. Her first British appearance was in October 1966 on TV. She also made  several appearances in the famous Ed Sullivan Show in the USA.

Rita recirds in English, french, German and Spanish and she is also a talented performer  on screen and stage. Her 1966 Italian film " Rita the Mosquito ", became a top box office success.

" Cuore " is the Italian version by Rossi of the American song " Heart ", written in 1962 by the USA husband-and-wife team Barry Mann and Cyntha Weill. The backing " Il Ballo del Mattone " was written by Verde and Canfora. It was the second million seller globally for Rita Pavone.

It was n°1 for nine weeks in Italy, and n° 27 and 12 weeks in the British bestsellers.

“ Cuore “ è la versione italiana di Carlo Rossi del brano americano Heart, scritta nel 1962 dalla coppia di autori, e coppia anche nella vita - sono infatti

Il retro del disco, “ Il ballo del mattone “, è stata scritta da Verde e Canfora. Questo è stato il secondo disco da un milione di copie venduto da Rita Pavone.
E’ stato Nr.1 per nove settimane in Italia, e Nr. 27 per 12 settimane
nelle classifiche inglesi.
